Thomas Ridley Foodservice Sponsor Hearing Puppy
Rachel Clarke the Community Fundraising Manager for Norfolk, Suffolk & Essex Hearing Dogs for Deaf People presented Thomas Ridley Foodservice with a certificate and framed photo of Yorkie, the trainee hearing puppy on Tuesday 23rd September.
Rachel thanked the Directors of Thomas Ridley for their continued support of the charity and for their most recent donation of £5,150. This enables the charity to train Yorkie so he can eventually be partnered with a deaf person giving them life-changing independence and confidence.
Thomas Ridley has close ties to the charity because the mother of one of the Directors was profoundly deaf. The family dog, Whisky used his own intuition and instinct to assist her giving her confidence throughout the day to interact in the wider community.
Hearing Dogs for deaf people is a national charity and centre of excellence in training dogs to alert deaf people to important sounds and danger signals in the home, work place and public buildings. The charity receives no government funding and relies entirely on the support of individuals and companies to continue its life-changing work.
